There are very few fruits that are able to earn the title of "super fruit". However, there are 2 fruits that are both considered super fruits that have the advantage of very similar health benefits. Of course, one of these fruits is the pomegranate. The second fruit isn't nearly as well known, which is the acai berry. What makes both of these fruits so powerful, and gives them their many benefits, are antioxidants. Both fruits are also loaded with essential vitamins, and other nutrients.
The pomegranate has quickly spread to all corners of the Earth, but the pomegranate is believed to originate from the region now known as Iran, but it is likely that the pomegranate was available in large amounts all over the Middle East, Europe, and Africa for many centuries now. The pomegranate has always been regarded as a very powerful fruit, and was used to treat many diseases and conditions for many years.
Today, pomegranate is still used for many different purposes, but it is safe to say, that pomegranate is best used for its health benefits. Some modern applications include: improving heart function, burning calories, strengthening the immune system, and so much more.
The acai berry, has actually just recently become very popular. Before a couple years ago, the acai berry was pretty much only known in Brazil along the Amazon River, where this tropical berry originates. The acai berry is very particular about where it can grow. You can still only get Acai from the Amazon, and you must import it.
Both fruits have very similar characteristics, and offer practically the same results. However, given the scarcity and sensitivity of the acai berry, it may be hard to find, and equally hard to afford. Pomegranate, on the other hand, is readily available in most grocery stores across the US and the rest of the world.
